Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ Dallas

Twisted Trompo

Happy Taco Tuesday! Iโ€™m actually writing this blog in the AT&T Discovery District.

Today we explored Twisted Trompo! On Tuesdays, they have a deal were you can get a 5 taco plate with a margarita! I initially tried calling in our order. Even though I had every intention on eating the meal there, you can get the margarita to go. But because Twisted Trompo is responsible, I had to show ID before ordering, so we went inside to order.

The experience was great from start to finish! Placing the order was easy and the food came out in no more than ten minutes. We tried to sit outside because the wind felt so good from the rain we had unexpectedly in Dallas tonight. The door was locked to the patio, but one nice employee unlocked it for us! So sweet.

The margaritas came out first. I got mango and my partner got watermelon; both frozen. The margaritas hit and they tasted really good. You couldnโ€™t even taste the alcohol, but you felt it.

The food was presented beautifully and the flavors just burst in your mouth! We got two with steak , two with trompo, and one with chicken; one plate was on corn and the other on flour. The meat is seasoned to perfection e has just the right amount char.

I forgot to snap of photo of the Trompo! Sorry!

The plates comes with a side of rice and beans. The sides compliment the tacos so well. The red sauce is hot and even though the green sauce is too, itโ€™s more tolerable, so we had green sauce.

You also get a side of grilled onions and a pepper. Please remember when I tell you that Serrano pepper ainโ€™t no bitch!

So if youโ€™re ever in Downtown, Dallas and on Commerce Street, I highly recommend you stop by Twisted Trompo. You will not be disappointed.

Once youโ€™ve had the time of your life, stop by Canvas Park and enjoy the show!

Texas Grubbers

“Live. Laugh. Grub”

I have heard about Texas Grubbers throwing events in the city, but I finally had the chance to partake in one. This event was different from the others because it was a two day event with three parts: A fashion show, a glow party, and a networking popup. Sonder attended the networking popup session and it was a great vibe with great opportunities. So many vendors showed, ranging from food vendors to clothing to non lethal protection. Not only was the event kid friendly, it was also a great opportunity to meet local business owners in Dallas; there was even a bar! Sonder was there to gain more followers, interact with entrepreneurs in the Dallas area, and we even had a popcorn stand alongside our Thrifty Millennial thrift store items.

Here are just a few of the amazing individuals Sonder interacted with:

The Market- Dallas’ food hall and artisanal vendor market

When in Dallas, visiting the Dallas’ Farmers Market is a must. The Market โ€“ A 26,000 square foot food hall and artisanal vendor market containing four anchor restaurants, a mixture of local specialty foods, artisanal food vendors, and seating areas both inside and out where you can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in a view of the Dallas skyline or observing the market-goers. You can catch them daily from 10AM- 7PM for all your food cravings. The market currently house 27 restaurants. Anything you have a taste for, I’m sure you can get your fix! Here are a list of the ones my family and I have visited:

BellaTrino’s started with 2 friends and a dream to make an impact on the DFW food truck scene. They chose to create a true Italian experience on their trucks with centuries old techniques, authentic handmade ingredients, and a 5,000 lb wood burning oven! They strive to make the best Neapolitan pizza using the same techniques that have been used for over 200 years by daily making their own dough with Antimo Caputo “00” flour, tomato sauce from San Marzano tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella from whole milk curd. Since then they have grown from 2 food trucks to have their first location in the historic Dallas Farmers Market.

  • Taqueria La Ventana has the best margaritas! We frequent here a lot as a family because they have affordable prices.
  • Rexโ€™s Seafood and Market is always respected in my book! Not only is their seafood fresh and delicious they are go-getters and passionate about what they do. The one time it did snow in our city, Rex was open, keeping a lot of risk takers fed.

  • The 2nd Tap

The next time you visit Dallas. Please be sure to stop by. You will not regret it!

Two-Keys Catering

Two Keys Catering is the name of Dallasโ€™ latest elusive pop-up food craze. The business venture is run by two close friends – both appropriately named Kiara, or โ€˜Keyโ€™ for short. Two Keys specializes in a variety of services which include catering and bartending. To be lucky enough to try one of these exclusive dishes – you must stay alert, and keep your eyes glued to their social media pages for pop-up event dates. One should also be prepared to pay in advance, but it is well worth the wait.

Each event is uniquely designed with a new theme which consists of appetizers, entrees, desserts, and even drinks. In their most recent presentation, the stars of the show were Birria tacos, and egg rolls – all supported by cake and lemonade. These entrees were each composed of one protein: chicken, beef, or shrimp. The flavors of each protein were truly bold and delicious. The Birria consumรฉ complimented each of them well. The strawberry crunch cake had just the right amount of sweetness, and contained natural strawberries for a fantastic contrast. The homemade lemonades were the perfect drinks to wash it all down, with the raspberry and blueberry were equally enjoyable. If you would like to indulge as well:

Please follow them on Facebook and social media and keep a lookout for the next event date and menu so you can get your order in!

โ€œI would describe myself as someone who has an affinity for creativity. I never give up even when I throw my hands up and feel like I totally have given up. I love to nurture and to take care of others. I love when it rains and when the sun shines. Life is so beautiful. I am patient with others even when I am not patient with myself. I am a goal setter and I get up everyday to knock out my goals. I could go on and on. I’m a mother pretty much.โ€

Mari Drako

โ€œI think I would have to use the old clichรฉ and say indescribable – but no, seriously. I frequently find myself consumed by the intricate inner workings of my own mind, leaving me isolated while physically present. I would say Iโ€™m definitely an introvert, yet people find me to be highly social. You can quote me as saying I love the idea of humanity – while I commonly find myself annoyed at the lack of critical thought in some individuals. Perhaps an egoist? Narcissist? If so, never projecting outward. I find myself to be simple, a smart ape. I think we all are.โ€

Jazmine R.

โ€œSo I think there are so many different sides to me where I can say and act one way, but then when I’m placed in a different situation I can act completely opposite. So I guess I’m complex? Or maybe just confusing? I’ll be 27 this year. I feel like I should have it all figured out, know who I am and stick to it. I can’t just stick to being one specific way and tell you yeah I’m an optimistic and proactive person when there are times I act the complete opposite.โ€

Maria R.

โ€œI would describe myself as a sort of ditzy and eccentric person. Someone who is highly stressed and anxious for all the right reasons (lol). At the same time, someone who has their moments where they just sit alone in silence to think and possibly try to calm down. I would just describe myself as the average person trying to live life with the tools handed to me.โ€

Candace J.

โ€œIโ€™m a mom to a beautiful baby boy and a wife to his loving dad. I work hard for a living and Iโ€™m always looking for another way to occupy my time. I enjoy a little of everything, but it seems like I never have enough time to explore everything.โ€

Kisha B.

“I’m a caring person. I’m also very unique. I’m genuine to everyone I meet and I like to think I’m responsible. Understanding and outgoing are words that describe me. I’m living life and I’m happy. I’m here. We all are.”
