Hello 👋🏽 Dallas

Sonder’s Taco Tuesdays: Cesar’s Tacos

Cesar’s Taco 🌮

I respect this place so much because not only are they good, they’re open 24 hours, literally!

They have so much to choose from on their menu, but for Taco Tuesday we got a three taco plate, on corn of course.

The thing I like the most about the taco plate is the side salad. You think you don’t really need it, but if you add a little salt and pepper, it’s the perfect addition to the tacos.

The tacos are full of protein! Not only that, but the meat is super flavorful. We tried the fajita and trompo.

The next time you’re leaving the bar and need a good late night place to eat something to soak up the alcohol, they got you. Anytime of day!

Sunday Funday: Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken & Sylvan Avenue Tavern

I’ve been to Gus with my family before, but this time I made sure to pay attention to detail.

The menu is pretty simple which I like because it moves me a way when restaurants have a shit load on the menu.

I ordered a four piece tender with beans and fries for my son. The tenders were a nice size and they were really moist. They are also so fulfilling because I was full after 3. The bread is also a nice compliment to the chicken. The ranch and peppers were also a nice addition because it gave the moist tenders a nice spice.

We also tried the half chicken with the beans and Mac and cheese. The half chicken has way more flavor than the tenders. It’s a nice take on southern hot chicken. Each piece is well coated. The chicken is cooked to where it retains a lot of the juices.

Although the ranch comes with the tenders as part of that meal, it’s also a nice compliment to the bone in chicken.

The Mac and cheese is presented well but it’s not the best. I’m not sure why paprika is used as garnish.

The beans were good but kind of sweet. I don’t really like sweet when I’m not having dessert, but that’s preference.

This is definitely a meal you have to eat fresh there. I wouldn’t recommend taking it to go.

I think you should stop by and let me know your opinion.

Later that night we stopped by Sylvan Tavern.

The menu was nice and we tried the two snow cone like drinks. The snow cone aspect of it made it much more fun!

The first was Jon’s Hoodoo. It had a nice taste to it. You couldn’t taste the alcohol, but you could definitely feel it. The second was called the Decepticon. I was a little scared because it was made with a sour liquor, but it was actually really good. The Lucas around the rim is a nice balance with the sweetness of the drink.

The kitchen stays open late and the bartender told us everything on the menu was good. He did not fib!

We tried the hummus! I have already made it my duty to try the hummus at every place I go because they all taste so different.

The vegetables were so fresh and really yummy with the hummus. The pita chips were a hit because some parts are soft like bread and then you get the crunch of the chips. They say they have the best hummus in Dallas. You should try it and let me know what you think.

The trio is also a nice thing to try because you get to try three appetizers. Fried pickles, fried mozzarella, and fried raviolis were our pick. The pickled helped with soaking up the alcohol and you’re given a nice amount. The fried mozzarella was really cheesy to the point the cheese stretched from your mouth with every bite. The raviolis were good but different. I’m used to wet ones so it was definitely a different experience.

National Margarita Day- ANOTHER ROUND

We celebrated this boozy holiday at Another Round.

It’s a little ducked off but they have a nice little set up. I love the architecture. The parking lot is shaped kind of weird but you figure it out quickly.

The store front is beautiful. The glass entrance helps create a nice vibe. They have merchandise for sale and I love how open and colorful it is upon entrance.

Once you pay you’ll pick your golfing stick and then pick a ball from the wall.

They even have cute little ones for the little ones lol. You can choose to do a full coarse or half. We chose half 1-8.

They even have little mini games to enjoy in between the session.

The bar was a hit and that’s why we’re here right, the margaritas. I got a strawberry frozen with nothing on the rim. I also got a hot dog. I wanted a panini but they ran out of pesto.

The hog was delicious and beefy! Just like I like it lol.

It’s a little pricey! We spent $130 between the family. It was $60 for everyone to get in and we spent $47 on snacks and refreshments.

My ex husband also enjoyed frozen margaritas and I’m not sure what he spent so I predicted 🙃.

Overall it was a fine family slash margarita day. Be sure to stop by the next time you’re in the triple D!

El Tiz

Today we tried El Tiz

Customer service is spectacular! I was seated as soon as I entered the door. I chose to sit on the patio to get a better view and also to feel this Texas weather.

It’s crazy how bipolar it can be lol. Yesterday it was 40 and today we got a high of 78.

I got a wobbly table! I didn’t realize it was until someone came to wipe it off and it started to wiggle. I was too comfortable to move lol.

They start you off with a selection of sauces and toppings for the tacos. You also get a really good black bean soup!

The bean soup was simple but was a great appetizer. I added just a sprinkle of salt and some of the onions and cilantro toppings on mine.

Both sauces were hot af! So I just left them right where they sat.

I tried the guavariita 9 oz frozen and it was spectacular. I ordered the 4 taco plate with chicken. Of course I got corn tortilla and not flour. I like how they’re not stingy with the meat. They also give you enough toppings to actually cover all 4 tacos.

The prices are very affordable. The taco plate was only $10 and also the margarita .$20 for a bomb ass Taco night out in Dallas, you can’t beat that !

Ice cream + Thai = The Perfect Combination

I’m always open to trying new things, especially when it comes to food! I mainly visit Victory Park because I love Chipotle, but this time I wanted to try something different.

ZAAP Kitchen was stop #1. I was not familiar with this place because they have not always been there. For the life of me I cannot remember what store they replaced. Either way I was hungry so I decided to give them a try. They currently have 8 locations in Dallas. The small, popular family-run restaurant from husband-and-wife Tony and Manichanh Moe Singharaj that’s famous for serving both Laos and Thailand cuisine is definitely making their mark.

At first glance, the menu has all great things ranging from noodles and rice bowls. I tried the Thai Spicy Basil rice bowl with Jasmine rice and spice level 3. I picked the perfect spice level because it was not spicy at all. I normally do not like sweet foods, but it was the right balance of sweet and savory. The food did not take long to prepare and they’ll bring it to you outside, so you can wait around at their sitting area. I decided to get the chicken as my protein, but they also have others like tofu and even combination. Dipping a spoonful of rice into the broth of the stir fry is the best part of the meal. All the flavors soak up so well.

Next stop was dessert at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. The founder Jeni, literally wrote the book on ice cream—and she has the James Beard Award to prove it. With her ahead-of-the-trend vision, Jeni revolutionized the ice cream industry, forever changing the way ice cream is made.

The crew is so nice and they do not mind letting you try as many flavors as you’d like. All of the flavors are unique and range from Boozy Eggnog, to Merry Berry, to White Chocolate Peppermint! Among all of the samples tried, I decided to go with Wildberry Lavender and Brambleberry Crisp. My favorite was the Brambleberry! The Lavender was very smooth and simple, and can go well with all of the flavors, in my opinion. But it’s something about the oven-toasted oat streusel and a sweet-tart brambleberry jam layered throughout vanilla ice cream, that just gets me going. I even went back the next day for seconds. I tried the cone, which are made fresh daily in store. You can also choose a bowl and get more than 2 scoops.

So if you’re ever in the Village Park area please remember to stop by one of these wonderful places and show your support. You will not be disappointed.
